Protists who belong to the phyla Chlorophyta are also known as green algae. They have chloroplasts similar to plants, they are the only algae with chlorophyll B. Because of this it is thought that they may be the evolutionary ancestor of plants. They are found in multiple different environments like fresh and salt water, damp soil, or snow. These "Green Algae" have both sexual and asexual stages in their lives.
