Organisms who reside in this class are large palm-like plants with large seeds and pollen cones. These plants flourished during the days of dinosaurs. In fact cycads were so plentiful that some might call the mesozoic era the Age of Cycads. Cycads are dioecious species that have pollen cones and seed cones produced on seperate individuals. This stops the chance of self fertlization and is one of the reasons why cycads have been able to flourish as long as they have. The pollenand seed cones can reach up to three feet in height and weigh ninety pounds.
