Phylum Ginkgophyta has seeds borne in pairs on dwarf shoots and leaves similar in shape to the maidenhair fern. There is only one left which buddhist monks keep alive. Its leaves are produced in short spiral shoots. The ginkgo has paired ovules with only one used to create the seed. The seeds have fleshy coats but they arent like true fruits.
