Rhizopus Mycelium covering strawberries

Approximately one percent of all fungi.  A common example of this is the mold seen on strawberries after a few days.   These sexual spores are thick walled resting spores called zygospores.  It reproduces asexually and extremely quick.

This mold has both positve and negative effects due to its fast acting ability.  First, it is used in many Asian cultures in order to ferment foods quickly.  However, it has serious negative effect on storage.  Especally on things like sweet sugary fruit.  A few days out and the fruit can quickly go rotten.
